As the 2026 midterms get closer, the GOP sees that the only way they can reasonably keep the House majority, no matter how slim, is by maxing out the gerrymandering. I don’t blame them since the other strategy is obsessing over removing Thomas Massie and Rand Paul for no reason other than they said no to the yearly budget waste bill while convincing the base to give Mike Johnson and John Thune another 2 years after they just screwed Trump over his plan to make recess appointments.
One of the states that is trying to destroy Dem districts is Texas. Their plan sees that 5 extra seats are added by Balkanizing the already big super red seats. Texas Dems did not like this at all, so they ran away to Illinois in order for the vote to fail.
It didn’t work, and the new map won regardless if they ran away or if more state politicians walked out.
From the looks of it, the plan to remove them from office has been abandoned in the name of just owning the libs.
So all the talk about removing them, as they are the party of evil who want to destroy the fabric of America, was just talk. Caving doesn’t mean anything if Dems can see that their opposition is powerless to purge them even in super red states. At least we might make Gavin upset, even though if we governed like him, then any problem from Dems wouldn’t be an issue.
However, fear not, patriot, since this isn’t going empty-handed. Ken Paxton won’t put these evil real racists in chains for the crime of subverting democracy. He will go after Beto O’Rourke for a nothing burger reason since he is more important than the Democrats in power right now.
The seats won’t be vacated, but Beto will be sued for scamming. Something that every single politician does in the current year. I mean, the politicians pushing this are gathering funds through the known money-hole scam, WinRed.
Republicans had a chance to get the own the libs and even extra power in the legislature. They decided to go after grifting and internet clout instead. Don’t feel so bad since that is what they have always done when in power. They couldn’t send a Democrat to jail if it saved their life or the country.
Better next time before they actually show what happens when they try it in a small town.
