I always believed that Truth social was a failed idea from the start. I mean you had a mid congressman become the CEO, have a platform no one uses other than to dump links for schizo Qanon people and somehow caved to the censorship mafia before Rumble did.
The only thing that kept it alive beyond Elon Musk reinstating Trump’s account was Trump being forced to use it because of some contractual bullshit. Well now his mere presence on the platform isn’t cutting it out anymore as the site is on its way out and Trump might have to return to X.
Truth Social, Donald Trump’s attempt to create a right-wing clone of Twitter, might be days away from dissolution. The social media platform’s fate will be decided by a crucial vote later this week, the Washington Post reported on Saturday (Sept. 2).
The eventual fate of Truth Social was seeded back in October 2021, when Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG)—the platform’s parent company—announced its plans to merge with Digital World Acquisition Corporation (DWAC), a Miami-based company. The intent of the merger was for TMTG to go public via a SPAC (special purpose acquisition company) deal. The two companies had between 12 and 18 months to complete their merger.
The deadline for the merger to close, which has been extended at least five times, is now scheduled for Sep. 8, 2023. A shareholder meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday (Sep. 5), in the hopes of garnering enough votes to extend the deadline by another year.
If the vote fails, DWAC will be required by law to liquidate and return $300 million to its shareholders, leaving Trump’s company high and dry.
High chance that the vote isn’t going to be in Truth’s favor. They see how much of a money hole that site has become ever since it launched and now its just time to pull the plug on the whole thing.
The only people who are going to try to convince them to keep this scam site going is the Dickriders who just ruin Trump’s strategy by making him sing on to NFT’s and not returning to Twitter.
His first ever post since his reinstatement on X has reached over 250 million impressions.
X is the playing field in politics and has always will be. regrouping on Alt-Tech platforms that aren’t even free speech because they have to rely on being on the app stores isn’t going to advance the Trump message forward.
Truth was fun while it lasted but now it just needs to be put down.
